A couple of the sites that you need to see when coming to Athens are the historic ruins of ancient Greece which include the Parthenon and Temple of Athena Nike. The Parthenon was a temple to the Greek goddess Athena. It is one of the most recognizable sites in the world and anyone who visits Athens should go there and see how spectacular it is in person. It is much larger in reality than it appears in pictures or movies. The Temple of Athena Nike used to be used to protect the entrance into Acropolis. Acropolis literally means “city on the edge” and is the area where most of the ruins are located in Athens.
